Principal Civil Engineer

Location: Birmingham city centre with hybrid working

Salary: 50k – 58k plus package

Emtech are working with a UK Wide Multi Disciplinary Engineering Consultancy with 300+ staff who are looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. The team are working on a wide range of medium to large scale projects across healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, rail and infrastructure.

They are looking for an experience Civil Engineer with a background in infrastructure design for development let projects to join their team. You will have a team of Engineers & Technicians to support you and be expected to oversee project work and communicate with clients.

Ideally you will have the following experience:

• Technical experience within the field of Civil Engineering design, covering several aspects of preliminary and detailed design of levels, drainage and external works
• An aptitude using industry standard design software packages AutoCad, Civil 3D and MicroDrainage (or similar).
• You will understand the multi-disciplinary nature of projects from planning stage, through to completion and a willingness to understand more about other discipline roles on projects
• Experience liaising with both internal and external bodies, including planning authorities, statutory undertakers and national bodies such as the Environment Agency
• You will understand the importance of working with different types of client in a complex industry – clients include developers, local authorities and contractors, all of whom have different expectations and requirements from you and the projects you will work on
• Commercial awareness within your field of experience
• Willingness to develop an outward facing capacity as a design team representative in dealings with clients on technical matters
• A willingness to delegate design responsibility to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced staff
• Good communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
