Highway Engineer

Location: Bristol

Salary: £30k – £40k dependent on experience

Emtech are working with a growing Transport & Civil Engineering Consultancy are looking for a Highway Engineer to join their Bristol or Cheltenham team with flexible working opportunities. Within your role you will:

• Prepare technical drawings such as sketch highway designs, preliminary highway designs, and S278 drawings, including for the subsequent negotiation through to approval.
• Mentor junior team members.
• Liaise with stakeholders, external project team members and clients.
• Undertake site visits.
• Obtain information, such as drawings and utility searches from third parties.

This position would suit someone who has:

• A relevant qualification in civil engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Highways Engineer or 4-5 years’ experience in a more junior role.
• Knowledge of, and experience of producing, Section 278 designs.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D/Site 3D
• Knowledge of relevant design standards such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Signs Manual and TSRGD.
• Experience of managing projects.
• Excellent communication skills, able to liaise successfully with colleagues and approving authorities.
• Experience of giving technical advice and guidance to junior staff.
• The ability to plan and arrange their work to meet objectives and deadlines.
