Highway Design Engineer

Location: Leeds

Salary: 30k – 40k plus package

Emtech are working with a growing Engineering Consultancy who are looking for a Highway Engineer to join their team based just outside Leeds city centre. On offer is the chance to work on a wide range of highway projects across the UK as part of an experienced team. A Chartership training programme is in place and you will have the chance to take on responsibility of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working with both existing and new highways and active travel projects, ranging from local junction improvements to multimillion pound motorway maintenance framework contracts
• Inputting at early project stages: preparing scopes; specification and interpretation of surveys; site visits; option appraisal and preliminary design; meetings with clients and stakeholders
• Detailed design: modelling; calculations; drawing production; bill of quantity and design assessment of risk, highway design
• Document contributions including authoring technical reports, such as feasibility, options and planning reports, specifications and contract documents
• Assisting with the review of others’ work: checking highways design, as a client representative and designer’s site representative
• Supporting the development of graduate engineers

Ideally you will have:

• Degree in civil/highways engineering
• 2+ years experience as a highways engineer
• Working towards Chartership with ICE or CIHT
• Knowledge and experience in the use of DMRB and other standards
• Knowledge and experience in the use of the Traffic Signs Manual
