Associate Civil Engineer
Location: Central London, London Bridge (Hybrid working, 2 days in the office per week)
Salary: 60k – 70k plus package benefits
Emtech are working with a medium size multi disciplinary Engineering Consultancy who are looking for an Associate Civil Engineer to join their London team. The London office has 80 team members working on a hybrid arrangement across Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transport, Geotechnical & Environmental.
Projects exist across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and leisure. They also tend to work on 20% international based projects as well as large scale town centre redevelopment projects.
In this role you will co-lead the London based Civil Engineering team with scope to progress to Director level over the next few years.
Key responsibilities:
- Be responsible for and carry out technical reviews of reports, calculations, specifications, drawings.
- Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to suit Client purposes.
- Undertake regular reviews of project finance, invoicing and payment and feedback to Project Partner.
- Provide leadership and management of your team and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure Designers Risk Assessments are maintained in accordance with CDM regulations and all guidance.
- Take project responsibility and provide technical/commercial knowledge and decisions to control our exposure to risk and feedback to the wider team
- Liaise with co-professionals and clients on a project basis through meetings and conference calls etc, with input to information production and execution programmes.
- Act as line manager, train and mentor graduate, project and senior engineers including annual reviews.
- Prepare bids, tenders and fee proposals for small to large sized projects and assist in preparation of bids for larger commissions.
- Developing client and co-professional relationship and networking skills.
- Able to demonstrate creativity and innovation in design of civil engineering solutions across highways and drainage design.
- Significant experience of the principles and application of all relevant regulations and guidance including, but not limited to the most up-to-date versions of Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Sewers for Adoption.
- Experience of PDS, Microdrainage and AuotCAD (Civils 3D preferable)
- Knowledge and experience of the application of the CDM Regulations.
- Ability to plan and manage personal and team effectiveness.

Location: Birmingham

Emtech are working with a midlands based Engineering Consultancy based who are looking for a Civil Engineer with a background in Infrastructure Design for developments to join their team in Birmingham. This is a new office for the business so you will be joining a small team with exciting growth plans over the next few years.
Experience Required:
- 5+ years experience in highway and drainage design for development projects such as residential, commercial, retail, town re-developments, mixed use schemes etc.
- Able to designs for road layouts, junctions, car parks.
- Experience in negotiation S278, S38, S104, S106 is beneficial.
- Good knowledge of SUDS, prior experience carrying out flood risk assessments would be beneficial.
- Technical capability with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microdrainage.
- Experienced in running your own projects and working independently.

Principal Transport Planner
Location: Maidstone, Kent
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + bonus + flexible working hours + hybrid (3 days min in office) + pension + healthcare and more
Emtech are working with a growing Transport Planning & Engineering Consultancy who are looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join their team in Kent. Ideally you will have at least 5 years experience within transport planning and have experience working on a range of projects in the UK.
You will be joining an estbalished transport planning team of 9 people in the Kent office. Work includes a wide range of small to large projects including strategic urban extensions and garden villages – in most cases they have supported these through the Local Plan process and then planning applications, engaging with relevant transport authorities. A large proportion of our work is supporting the private development industry across a range of sectors however they also provide support to public authority clients.
Experience desired:
- 5+ years experience in transport assessments, transport statements, travel plans for development proposals
- Experienced in junction modelling and layout design
- Must be a client facing individual who is able to represent the company and take a lead role on projects
- Technical capability with Junctions 10, LINSIG, TEMPro, GIS
- Previous on residential, retail and commercial schemes would be beneficial
- Experienced mentoring and supporting junior team members

Senior Civil Engineer

The Role
Due to continued success and expanding project portfolio, they are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects nationwide and can be based in either the Essex or London office. Hybrid working is available following successful completion of the probation period.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead and manage civil engineering services, providing technical expertise, overseeing project delivery, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions that align with our ethos of value and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Lead the design, analysis, and development of civil engineering solutions, including highways, drainage systems, infrastructure, earthworks, and site layouts, with support from senior management.
- Project Management & Coordination: Oversee projects to ensure timely delivery within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all designs meet relevant local authority regulations, planning requirements, and industry standards.
- Conduct assessments in line with national frameworks such as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and CIRIA guidelines.
- Liaise with statutory bodies, including the Environment Agency, local authorities, and utility providers, to secure necessary approvals.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication:
- Present design concepts and solutions to clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and technical documentation.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: Identify challenges and develop innovative engineering solutions to mitigate risks and overcome technical issues.
- Budget & Cost Management: Ensure cost-effective design solutions while maximizing value for clients.
- Health, Safety & Sustainability: Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and best practices for safety and sustainability.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and review engineering designs to ensure they meet internal and external quality standards.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience: Significant post-graduate experience in civil engineering design and project delivery, with expertise in residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
- Professional Accreditation: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized professional institution (e.g., ICE) or actively working towards it.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, particularly drainage and highways design.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infodrainage / MicroDrainage, and other relevant design tools.
- Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on time, cost, and quality control.
